Local Liverpool Taxi Drivers Beat The Odds & Transport Children in Care to Southport Pleasureland. Once again, despite the huge challenges of the pandemic, the Huge Media Team supported the Liverpool Taxi Drivers Children in Care Outing.
Thirty Five Years & Counting
This annual day out was set up by taxi drivers in 1985. Headed by Chairman Bernie Buxton MBE and the excellent committee, fundraising took place through they year, including of days, social nights and Annual Taxi Diary.
This year was the 35th outing and in the most difficult of times. With true fighting spirit the Committee forged ahead to ensure the everything went smoothly on 29th July 2020 and the visit to Southport Pleasureland went ahead. The team at Huge Media have a long standing friendship with many of the volunteers and it was great to provide drivers and taxi branding for the event.
Liverpool Taxi Drivers Join Forces
Fifty taxis, minibuses, three funeral limousines and a coach travelled in convoy to Pleasureland. London cabbies and local firms joined Liverpool taxi drivers. Limousines came from Debbie Bennett Funerals with minibuses kindly donated from Arnold Clark on Sefton Street.
Food and access to the rides was provided with thanks to Pleasureland and goodie bags from various companies. A lot of children in attendance had never had a wonderful day like this before and to see the children transported in such an array of vehicles, provided with free access to the Park, given food vouchers and the biggest goodie bag you can imagine was an absolute joy.
Best Dressed Taxi Competition
Sheldon Collins drove his taxi from London to take part and was a worthy winner of the Best Dressed Taxi Competition, followed by Bryce McNiven who was an excellent runner up. A big thanks to all the drivers, sponsors and affiliates who make this happen to give children much needed pleasure. Take a bow!
