This week, Huge Media are helping promote a joint campaign in Charnwood, Leicester. The Charnwood Police, Leicestershire are joining forces with Charnwood Borough Council Community Safety Team and Crimestoppers for a week long burglary awareness campaign.
The event started on Monday July 21st 2014 with officers from the local policing unit taking part in a patch walk in the Anstey area where they will be speaking to residents to offer crime prevention advice and giving out leaflets.
On Tuesday July 22nd officers attended ASDA in Thurmaston(above), along with staff from Charnwood Borough Council and the local Neighbourhood Watch, offering burglary prevention advice, security ideas and details of how to set up or sign up to a Neighbourhood Watch Scheme. Reformed burglar Phil Ward will also be at the event to give an insight into what burglars look for when they target a house. Staff from ADT will also be there to give advice on fire and safety.
On Friday July 25 officers will be taking part in another patch walk, this time in the Syston area.
Inspector Paul Harrison, commander at Charnwood local policing unit said: “With the warm weather we have recently been enjoying it is tempting for people to leave windows open when they go out. This is an open invitation to burglars so we are trying to educate people not to leave their house insecure.
“The events we are holding will give people the opportunity to ask questions and get advice that will hopefully prevent them becoming a victim of burglary in the future.”
Huge Media are supporting the awareness with a campaign with mobile billboard advertising in Leicester. If you spot the advan, don’t forget to tweet your support for the campaign.
