Today is day 3 of the Merseyside Police ‘DNA Forensic Marking’ Mobile Advan Campaign. The aim of the promotion is to encourage residents to mark their valuables with ‘Select DNA’ solution which will show under UV light if property is recovered after it being stolen. It will make all residents’ property easily identifiable and unique to that property which will make it easier to return to the owner.
The initiative is a joint effort with Merseyside Police, Crimestoppers and Select DNA all agencies being involved in this joint enterprise to highlight burglary in the Merseyside area and the need to identify resident’s property using this unique system of identifying individual items. This will help Merseyside Police to recover stolen property and return it to its rightful owner. Additional signage is being placed in each residential area to make any potential thieves that the scheme is operational in that area. Local PCSO’s have also been calling door to door with the ‘Select DNA’ kits and urging residents to mark their property.
